IT Cabinet
Members of the Cabinet represent essential IT service providers and key IT users in the University community. IT Cabinet members serve at the pleasure of the CIO.
IT Cabinet meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend and are held the first working Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Roberts Room at Scholes Hall.
Charter of the UNM IT Cabinet
The UNM IT Cabinet advises and supports the CIO and the mission of the University and its endeavors in instruction, student services, research, administration and public service.
IT Cabinet Charge
The charge of the IT Cabinet is to advise and collaborate with the CIO on:
- IT strategic planning
- Effective two-way, multi channel communication
- Optimizing and leveraging IT investments
- Developing and advocating policies, procedures, and standards
- Improving the effectiveness of IT services and sharing IT resources
The CIO, in consultation with the IT Cabinet, and in concert with the IT Governance Council, develops and guides the priorities and goals of the IT Cabinet.
IT Cabinet Technology Scope
The following technologies are core to the scope of the CIO and the IT Cabinet:
- Telecommunications and facilities infrastructure (e.g., voice and data networks and supporting cable plant)
- Instructional technology (e.g., classroom media systems and services, distance learning)
- Computing (e.g., servers and development environments for productivity and high performance computing)
- Enterprise-wide applications and user services (e.g., Banner)
- Video (e.g., CATV, video applications on the network, security video)
- Peripheral Technologies (e.g., printing and scanning)
Examples of technologies that interface with the technology scope of the CIO and Cabinet include public broadcasting, and discipline specific applications.
