IT Governance

In 2005, the CIO established the IT Governance Council, consisting of the Executive Vice Presidents for Administration, Health Sciences, the Provost and the CIO to provide direction on IT issues, and review and approve the IT Strategic Plan. The IT Cabinet was also established in 2005 to provide a conduit for information between It organizations and their key stakeholders.

The IT Cabinet advises and informs the CIO on IT strategic and technical priorities for the University.

For large initiatives, IT and the CIO have defined a collaborative process for the execution of large, cross-campus initiatives. This is being piloted in the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Contact the Office of the CIO for further discussion. Collaborative Process Roadmap

Two additional groups were formed (2007) to support governance, IT Managers and IT Agents:

IT Managers from central IT service providers who develop and recommend IT standards, guidelines and procedures, and coordinate cross-campus IT infrastructure efforts.

IT Agents from (Banner Level 3) divisions who participate in developing standards, share in implementing coordinated projects impacting their areas, and who serve as conduits of information between divisions.

Enterprise Resource Planning Steering Committee is accountable for delivering increased value to the University community through the deliberate and effective administration of UNM’s mission critical student, research and administration functions.

Other cross-campus IT advisory and mission-specific groups have been convened such as, the Banner Steering Committee and IT UNM. The CIO and ITS leadership also participate in groups such as, HSC IT planning and leadership, the Dean's Council, Provost Staff, and the Executive Cabinet.
