2007 Survey

In September 2007, UNM TechQual+ survey coordinators piloted the survey with a sampling of faculty, students and staff from the UNM community. The academic areas surveyed included the Anderson School of Management, College of Education, College of Nursing, University College, and University Libraries. The administrative areas surveyed included the Budget Office, Division of Continuing Education, Extended University, and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development.

Only 230 respondents completed this survey out of a pool of over 17,000. The surveyors will compare the 2007 quantitative response survey data with the results of the 2008 Survey to evaluate its reliability.

The five most frequently mentioned suggestions (qualitative response data) from survey respondents included, in rank order:

  1. Develop support staff to incease skill and comfort level in users
  2. Broaden and strengthen wireless coverage
  3. Improve usability and support for Web and Portal-delivered information about UNM
  4. Share governance in IT choices and decisions
  5. Make up-to-date presentation technology in classrooms more available. Better support and training.

The survey coordinators validated these summary comments through interviews the IT Agent and leadership representative from each of the academic departments surveyed. They also validated the summary comments with the UNM IT Cabinet and IT Agents governance groups.
