2008 Survey

In October 2008, the coordinators administered a revised 18-question survey to the entire UNM Community. Demograhics are front loaded with invitee e-mail that identify categores such as primary affiliation (faculty, staff, student), undergraduate or graduate student, level 3 division or college, age groupings, job grade and groupings, and years of UNM affiliation. Branches and North Campus were surveyed; hospital only staff, retirees and emeriti were excluded. The survey was open for two weeks.

Of the 34,000+ invitees, approximately 2000 responded, or 5 per cent. Ranges of desired and minimum acceptable service levels varied less than the experienced level of service across divisions and other groupings of respondents. Overall, the wired network service only marginally satisfied all gourps of respondents, indicating that achieving a minimum level of service consistency cross IT service providers (services such as wireless, learning management, web, classroom technology, user support, or collaborative technologies) is the greatest deficit in IT service. Of the primary affiliations, student IT needs, except for wireless, are generally better scored than those of staff, and much more so than faculty.
